Gender Equality, Disability and Social Inclusion (GEDSI) reports
Under the SBE Technical Assistance Platform, ODI Global produced these Gender Equality, Disability and Social Inclusion (GEDSI) regional analyses, as part of a project led by the CLEAN Helpdesk. These reports are essential in supporting the co-development of SBE projects, ensuring activities are informed by Gender Equality, Disability and Social Inclusion region-specific situations. Two reports are available "Gender equality, disability and social inclusion in Caribbean blue economies" and "Gender equality, disability and social inclusion in Pacific blue economies".
Small Island Developing States have social and economic structural features that create risks and challenges for development. These intersect with and are often compounded by the impacts of climate and environmental hazards. The economies of the regions are heavily orientated toward the blue economy sectors of beach-based tourism and fisheries. These reports focus on GEDSI and safeguarding issues, and the way in which these are, in many cases, entwined with climate and environmental degradation. Find out more in the detailed reports below.

Dominica policy brief: Fisheries in Dominica, How to Adapt to Climate Change
Dominica’s fisheries are at risk from both long-term temperature rise affecting fish stocks, and the increased occurrence of extreme weather events such as hurricanes. The SBE project team from Cefas worked directly with the Dominican Fisheries Division and fishing communities around the island during a visit in July 2025 to identify key climate risks and discuss realistic adaptation options to increase resilience in Dominica's fisheries sector. This policy brief summarises the outcomes of these discussions, including the main climate concerns and adaptation already happening within fishing communities. The brief also outlines the barriers that prevent effective adaptation, and priority areas to focus efforts in the future to build resilience and safeguard livelihoods.
